Most Employers Offer Group Health Insurance

Most small business owners realize that to make certain that they will become successful they must provide some sort of an incentive in order to recruit employees to work for them. This could be any number of things, but quite often it is the benefit of group health insurance. While this may be a great way for your small business to enlist new staff members, there are a few things that you must know first before you dive into selecting a plan. You have to research group insurance plans thoroughly before selecting one for your organization.

A group health insurance policy can be obtained by any small business that has as little as two employees and up to fifty. There are two ways you can go about offering health insurance to your employees, and whatever way you select will generally depend on your budget. Many small businesses that offer group health insurance, help by contributing a portion of the cost of the plan. Then again if an employee needs to have his family covered, the employer may offer to pay the employees' premiums and have them pay the premium for their families.

Yet another thing to consider when selecting the right group health insurance policy, is whether to decide on managed care or fee-for-service. Managed care plans include Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), and Point of Service plans (POS).

An HMO will significantly decrease the cost that your employees will be required to pay for medical care, so long as they stick with the providers specified by the HMO. A PPO will not require a referral in order for them to see a specialist. Although the PPO is more flexible a visit to the doctor will be more expensive and annual deductibles will be greater. The POS plans are basically a combination of the features that you will find in an HMO and PPO. Members have the option to pay a flat fee for medical services in the network, or pay a deductible cost to visit a doctor outside of the network. The fee-for-service plan gives the employee the power to choose their own medical services. This means that they have a lot more flexibility in choosing where they can go for health care.

Adding an appealing group health insurance policy to your business venture will eventually bring you more employees. This is just basic information about Group Health insurance, you will find that there are quite a few options to consider when selecting a scheme. Make sure that you study all of the options, so that you are able to create the best plan for your staff members.
