Single mums rights groups throughout the country are challenging the legality of this kind of behavior.
Single mothers were asked to get off welfare and go back to work, but the workforce is actually campaigning against them. Plenty of single moms work over 40 hours a week to support their children, with barely any help from the state or deadbeat dads. Yet, they are given less money than single or married women, if they are hired at all. They have little support and must hire someone to look after the children when they are working. If they become ill, the situation becomes acute, both in terms of income and childcare.
The government census estimated that over 10 million unmarried mothers live in America. Many of these single mothers are getting together locally to help fight for single mums rights. Babysitting clubs, financial and social services are a few of the advantages there are to being a club member. Some single moms are petitioning their public officials to rescind laws that make it legal to question a woman about her personal relationships. Right throughout America, there are locally based support groups of single mothers that are fighting for single mums rights, so that all single mothers like themselves, will have equal rights in the workplace.
