An Alcohol Dependent Person Registers For Rehabilitation And Receives Alcohol Detoxification And Rehab For His Alcohol Addiction
Donald used to brag to his buddies how he could keep a forty hour per week job and get drunk almost every night. Regrettably, after maintaining this unhealthy lifestyle for nearly three years, he started to observe numerous alcohol related problems.
As an example, he had a very hard time getting up for work because he felt so tired when he got up. Moreover, just about every morning Donald experienced a dreadful hangover. In short, the combination of his hangovers and his lack of energy did not make it easy for him to get up and feel energized to go to work. To make matters worse, around a week ago he got his second drunk driving citation in the past eight weeks.
To compound things further, at his place of employment his last two performance evaluations were less than satisfactory. And finally, his six-year relationship with his girlfriend had deteriorated due to his depression, financial difficulties, lack of patience, and his angry outbursts.
Even though Donald was only twenty seven years old, he simply began to look like he was in his late thirties. Unfortunately, this is what excessive and hazardous drinking can do to a person. And in truth he comprehended that he was going through the adverse consequences of alcohol abuse or alcoholism and that he was too young to squander his life to abusive and excessive drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Unfortunately, he soon grasped the fact that he lost all control after consuming his first drink. Since this was a circumstance that was repeated every single time he drank, this concerned him greatly. In truth, he started to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.
After talking about his alcohol drinking problems and his abusive and unhealthy drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually decided to make an appointment to see his healthcare practitioner. When Donald saw his healthcare professional, he sincerely mentioned that he has been abusing alcohol, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to quit drinking. He then mentioned that drinking in moderation does not work for him and as a consequence, he wants to learn how he can develop an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Donald also told his doctor about his depression and how this mental health issue was negatively influencing his relationship with his girlfriend. His family doctor referred Donald to Doctor Fullmer, an alcohol and drug addiction psychologist, who persuaded Donald to enter into a drug and alcohol rehab clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehab. Fortunately, Donald would also be able to get treatment for his depression at this facility.
After four months of comprehensive rehab, Donald left the residential treatment facility and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient counseling. Inspired to change his life in a healthier manner, Donald joined a gym and started working out two or three times per week. Within five months Donald was a new man. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most important of all, he remained sober for several months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. In brief, refraining from drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
