A Young Man Gets A "Drunk Driving" Arrest And Makes Up His Mind To Hire A "Driving Under The Influence" Attorney
Although Franklin wasn't a lawyer, he told his son that he learned the hard way when as a young man he received a "driving under the influence" arrest, represented himself in the local court, paid three thousand dollars in penalties and fines, and served four months in jail. As he told his son, after he got released from jail, he found out from an attorney friend that had he hired a "driving under the influence" lawyer in the first place, he more likely than not would have had his fines and penalties substantially reduced and he may have never served any jail time.
When Lawrence heard this he knew he needed more DUI facts and so he asked his father for more information about what a DUI attorney can do in a DUI arrest. His dad then articulated the following: "A DUI attorney will see if there's a way to get your case dismissed, and if this possibility does not exist, your DUI lawyer will be looking at what viable defenses there are to winning your case."
When Lawrence listened to his dad explain this, it was as if his eyes were opened for the first time about the significance of hiring a "drunk driving" attorney. Near the end of their conversation, Lawrence said that he was beginning to grasp the relevance of DWI laws and what "driving under the influence" lawyers can do for a person who has received a "drunk driving" arrest.
After getting "schooled" about DUI arrests, the role of DWI lawyers, and understanding that he didn't have to agree to take any field sobriety tests at the time of his arrest, Lawrence made up his mind that he would definitely hire a "driving under the influence" lawyer to represent him in the local court. Something else, however, took place after he had talked to his dad. Lawrence finally began to understand the critical nature of "drunk driving" arrests and, as a consequence, he decided that from this moment forward, he would always drink responsibly so that he would never again have to go through another DWI arrest.
His father smiled at Lawrence and told him the following: "Lawrence,it took me until I was fifty-five years old to realize what you just told me. I am very proud of you." This did wonders for his self worth and so Lawrence thanked his dad and then said, "if I can always drink in moderation, I will never need to hire a DWI lawyer again!"
There was, however, one thing that neither Lawrence nor his dad thought about, namely, if Lawrence is displaying any alcohol abuse signs or maybe if he is exhibiting any of the usual signs of alcoholism. In truth, if Lawrence is exhibiting any alcohol signs that indicate alcohol abuse or alcoholism, more likely than not he will need alcohol treatment.
In truth, Lawrence may be required by the court to get rehab for his abusive and hazardous drinking. The good news, however, is that whatever it takes to deal with his careless drinking, it seems like Lawrence will be motivated to do the "correct" thing.
